What is MOKO?

Who can use MOKO?
MOKO is recommended for people who are 16 years or older because some content may be inappropriate for under-aged users. If you are under the age of 16, please do not use MOKO or lie about your age. All under-aged users or those pretending to be under-aged will be banned permanently. We'll be happy to have you back when you are the appropriate age.

I've signed up, so how do I login?
Only users accessing MOKO via the Mobile Internet (www.moko.mobi) need to login. Your login information is stored on your phone using a cookie. If you have accidentally deleted your cookies, go to www.moko.mobi and click on 'Already a member', then enter your username and password and click on submit.

I've just joined, how do I start chatting to other users?
You will need to create a profile before you can begin chatting. Click on MyMoko, select 'Create profile' and fill out your details. You're now ready to chat! Click on a 'Comments' link next to any photo or video and introduce yourself to the locals.

Oh no, I forgot my password!
Passwords are only applicable for those users accessing MOKO via the Mobile Internet. If you have forgotten your password, please go to www.moko.mobi and click on 'Already a member', then click on 'I forgot my password'. You will be asked to enter your username and mobile number - we will then send you an SMS with your current password.

What is MyMoko?
MyMoko is your home away from home! Use MyMoko to create your profile, add a description about yourself, bookmark your favourite pics and vids, check your MOKO Points, keep track of your own gallery, friends and comments, plus receive important messages from the MOKO team.

How do I create a profile?
Click on MyMoko, then select ‘Edit profile’ and fill out your details. Remember, you can only update your profile once every seven days, so make sure that all your details are correct before you click on ‘Submit’.

How do I add a pic or vid to my profile?
To change your profile pic or vid from the default blue Mokie friend, go to MyMoko, then click on 'Change pic / vid'. Select a pic or vid from your public gallery, then click on 'Add to profile' next to its thumbnail.

How do I change my profile description and username?
You can change your profile description and username once every seven days (you’ll notice a countdown telling you how many days you have left before you can next make a change). However, if your profile was rejected by mistake, please ask an Admin to unlock your profile for editing.

How do I display my age?
Your age is hidden by default. To make it visible, go to MyMoko and click on 'Edit settings'. Under 'Display age', deselect the checkbox marked 'Hide my age'. Your age will now be visible to others from your profile page.

How do I change my gender and DOB?
Only Admins can change your gender and date of birth. Please send a request in a Help message, an Admin will process your request as soon as humanly possible.

Can I see other user's profiles?

Of course! Just click on any username and you'll be taken to their profile page. But not everyone will have a profile description or profile pic / vid and public Gallery available.

How do I change my online and offline settings?
If you would like to roam MOKO uninterrupted by invites and other distractions, go to MyMoko and click on 'Edit settings'. Under 'Appear offline', select 'Hide me'. You will now appear offline to your friends.

Can others see My Gallery and My Friends?

Your public Gallery and Friends list are hidden by default. To make them visible, go to MyMoko and click on 'Edit settings'. Under 'Gallery viewable to' and 'Friends list viewable to' select 'Everyone' for all Mokies to view or 'Friends only' so that only the Mokies on your friends list can see your stuff.

How do I send in my photo or video?
All photos and videos submitted are moderated to make sure they comply with our rules. Photos and Videos breaching the rules may be rejected at the sender's expense and will not be published on MOKO. Please select a location from the list below for instructions:

How do I leave a link?
If you want a user to visit your own photo or video while you’re chatting, just click 'Add a link' after you type your comment and click submit. You will then be taken to your Gallery - click on 'Attach This' to choose a pic or vid, and fire off your comment. Everyone else will then be able to check out your pic or vid by clicking the link that appears beneath your comment. It's that simple! 

How do I invite users to my pic or vid?
Go to your photo or video and scroll to the end of the page and click on ‘Invite a friend’. Select a user from your friends list and click ‘Invite’; a link to your room is automagically sent to your friend*. However your friend may choose to visit your room later if they’re busy.

*You can only invite friends who are online.

How do I add users to my friends list?
Go to a user’s profile page and click ‘Add friend’, a friend request will then be sent to the user. If your request is accepted, their username will appear in your friends list. If it’s rejected or removed, your request will disappear from your list. If you’re blocked then you will not be able to send future requests to this user until you are unblocked. You have a maximum limit of 50 friends on your list.

How long will it take for my photos and videos to be posted?
All photos and videos submitted are moderated to make sure they comply with our rules. Most photos and videos are published within a few minutes; the exception is if your images are too dark, too blurry or deemed not suitable for viewers, in which case it won't be published at all. How long will it take comments to be posted?
Comments will be seen on MOKO almost instantly. The exception is if you've sworn or used hateful / overtly sexual language, in which case it on't be published at all. Check out the MOKO Rules for more info.

How do I remove my comments?
You’ll find a list (by date) of your comments in your MyMoko area - convenient links to help you return to a chat you enjoyed. Please note though: you can't remove or delete any comment after you have submitted it, so think before you click! Your 'My Comments' history cannot be seen by other Mokies.

How do I remove pics or vids from My Gallery?
Click on My Gallery and select the photos or videos you'd like to remove, then click ‘delete’. Click on yes, or no to cancel.

How do I send a Private message?
Go to a user’s profile page, then click on ‘Send private message’. Follow the instructions to send a message. Private Messages breaching the Rules may be rejected at the sender's expense - so keep it kind and no personal information such as phone numbers!

Can I attach a pic or vid to a Private message?
You certainly can! First, make sure you have at least one pic or vid in your gallery before you send a Private Message; then go to a user’s profile page and click on ‘Send private message’. Finish typing up your message and select the ‘Add an attachment’ check box, then click ‘Next’. Select a pic or vid, then hit ‘Send’. Job done!

How do I send in a private pic or vid?
Feeling a little shy? Then send in a Private pic or vid! It won't be published on MOKO, but it will be available along with all your other pics and vids should you wish to attach it to a Private Message. Please note: ALL pics and vids, public or private, are moderated according to the usual MOKO rules. Keep them clean!

All networks
Send your MMS as per normal, but be sure to title it 'Private'. It costs exactly the same to send a Private MMS as a Public one.


How do I see pics and vids from my location only?
Go to MyMoko, click on 'Edit settings' then, under the title 'Show submissions from', select your location and click on update. You will now only see pics and vids from the selected location only.

How do I enter competitions?
Please send all competition entries via MMS as described in the competition instructions. Be sure to title your MMS as requested.

What are MOKO Points?
MOKO Points refers to the currency used on MOKO for buying premium features and extra functionality. Click here to learn you you can top up from your mobile.

How do I use my Points?

You can spend your MOKO Points on premium features and extra functionality. Go to MyMoko, then click on 'My Points' to select what you would like to redeem with your points.

Who are Admin?
The Admins are our super-special, sword-wiedling knights in shining armour. They keep our precious Mokies safe and discipline those who can't play nice with others.

Who is Kip?
Kip is a MOKO Editor - he writes articles, organises the competitions and keeps the place ticking over. You'll see him on MOKO most every day - do say hi!

Who is Kit?
Kit is a MOKO Editor - she writes, dissolves fights and keeps everybody feeling awwright. Bow down before her... or just say hello. xxx

How do I get out of the Sinbin?
You can’t unless you’re released by a community Admin. If you're in the Sinbin you will not be able to post comments, send Private Messages or submit any photos or videos. Repeat offenders may be banned permanently and encouraged to unsubscribe – we will not tolerate bad behaviour. You did the crime, now do the time. No exceptions. Check out the Rules for more info.

Someone is annoying me in my 'room' - what can I do?
Users can remove unwanted users from their 'rooms' (i.e. pics or vids they’ve submitted). The 'room' owner should click the KICK link next to a username to stop the user from chatting in that ‘room’. Please use the KICK link sparingly as it cannot be undone! Remember, MOKO is a place to make new friends, not hide away!

A user is breaking the rules. Who should I tell?
Please report all inappropriate content, abusive behavior and underage users by using the form in Help with details of the offense and we will fully investigate the matter. We'll look into your issue and resolve it as soon as possible, however not all queries will receive a reply.

A user has submitted my pic or vid, pretending that it's theirs! What should I do?
Submitting another user’s content is not tolerated and breaches our rules. All content is watermarked to prevent this from happening. Please let us know by sending us a Help message - we promise we'll investigate the matter fully and take appropriate action.  

Why can't I post personal details like my phone number?
Hang on to your personal info and never give out your number, email, home, work address or school, etc. People on the other end of the phone may not be who they say they are. Arranging to meet other users in person could be dangerous. Please don’t do it.

Who are ^MOKO Mates^?
MOKO Mates are lovers of MOKO who help keep the place clean and kind. They have the power to kick other Mokies from any room on MOKO (with certain exceptions), so there should always be someone around to nip a fight or bullying in the bud. You'll recognise a MOKO Mates when you spot those rather nifty ^xxx^ symbols around their names. If YOU think you're trustworthy and if you're around a lot of the time, then watch out for MOKO Mate recruitment posters, our team are always on the lookout for awesome Mokies!

NB: Being a MOKO Mate is a privilege which may be revoked at any time should you abuse your power.

I sent an MMS with a photo or video but the title didn't show up?
While we do try our very best to be compatible with most phones, unfortunately, a few phones such as the Nokia 6680, 6280 and some Motorolas may experience this problem. The issue is handset related, but we hope to have it resolved in the future.

Some of my favourites have disappeared, what happened?
If you have a link to a favourite photo or video which is then deleted by a user or community Admin this favourite link will also disappear from your list.

Some of my comments have disappeared, what happened?
Comments with phone numbers, abusive language and sex chat will be removed by Admins. If you have behaved badly in numerous rooms throughout MOKO, all your comments may be removed.

What happens if I can't access MOKO?
You will need a at least a 2.5G WAP-enabled phone to access MOKO. MOKO is compatible with phones from most manufacturers but, if you have trouble using MOKO on your phone, please send us a Help message or send us an email.

How do I unsubscribe or cancel MOKO?
If you're a 3 Mobile customer in Australia, you can unsubscribe via My3 on Planet 3, or by calling 3 Care on 13 33 20 for assistance.

Customers in all other countries where subscription is available, should unsubscribe by clicking the 'unsubscribe' link in the Help section of MOKO.

Is my mobile phone compatible?
You will need a at least a 2.5G WAP-enabled phone to access MOKO, but a 3G phone is recommended. MOKO is compatible with phones from most manufacturers but, if you have trouble using MOKO on your phone, please send us a Help message or send us an email.

How do I get MOKO on the web?

MOKO is now available online, just visit http:www.moko.mobi into your browser.
